Hamilton wins another state title

By MIKE LEVIN

MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. (WKTV) - Playing against Chazy in the states for the fourth straight year, the Hamilton boys soccer team beat the Eagles in the Class D Championship, 1-0.  It's the first state title win for the Emerald Knights since they beat Chazy in 2008.

Hamilton has lost to Chazy in each of the last two years, last year in the final and in the semis in 2009.

Devin Askew scored the game's only goal to lift the Emerald Knights, who finish the season at 20-3.

Keeper John Kerber had nine saves for Hamilton, including a big one with 30 seconds left the game.  The last time the Emerald Knights gave up a goal was to Poland, in the team's first playoff game, the Section III quarters against Poland on October 28th.  Kerber finished the season with six straight shutouts.
