MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Proctor boys soccer team won their first ever Section III Class AA title Monday night, beating C-NS 3-1 in the cold, bitter temperatures at Morrisville State. The Raiders, seeded fifth in the AA sectionals, not only beat the #2 Northstars, but also #1 Liverpool in the semis, as well as the five time defending champions from Baldwinsville in the quarterfinals.
Proctor, who dominated most of the game, got on the board about halfway through the first, as captain Jose Figueroa connected with the back of the net.
The score remained 1-0 until just after the halfway point of the second, thanks to the dynamic Kevin Gordon. About seven minutes later, off a free kick by Said Begic, Mohamed Kuwa netted Proctor's third goal.
C-NS would add a late goal by Tyler Snow, but Proctor had the game well in hand at that point.
After the game, the Raiders were showered by their excited fans, as the team celebrated the victory in spectacular fashion.
"I played varsity four years, since my 9th grade year and we've never been this pumped," said Figueroa after the game. "First year we even made it to the finals and we won it, I'm just excited, I'm speechless."
