By JASON POWLES

SAUQUOIT VALLEY, N.Y. (WKTV) - After trailing 1-0 at the half, Sauquoit Valley scored three unanswered goals en route to the 3-1 victory over South Lewis in the Class C-1 quarterifnals on Thursday night.

Ronnie Ellers scored the first goal of the game for South Lewis on a ball that just got away from Alyson Gaffney. However, in the second half, with the wind at their backs, the Lady Indians stepped up their play.

Ten minutes into the second half, Abbey Mielnicki scored off a direct kick from Elisa Marchione to tie the game at one. Fifteen minutes later, Kelly Brennan booted home a long shot to give Sauquoit the lead for good. Marchione added one for good luck just a minute and a half later. The Lady Indians outshot South Lewis 36-3.

Sauquoit will face Watertown IHC in the Class C-1 semifinals on Monday at a site and time yet to be determined.
