NEWPORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - Senior Dan Ward set a new Ilion record for goals in a season, after scoring three times in the Golden Bombers' 3-1 win at West Canada Valley Tuesday. Ward now has 32 goals on the year and 72 for his career.
Ward scored the first goal of the game and minute and a half into the game against West Canada, but the Golden Bombers couldn't get on the board again the rest of the half.
The Indians then got an equalizer from Bobby Davenport with just under eleven minutes to go until the break.
But Ilion came back in the second, as Ward got two more, the first tying him with Chad Binney for most goals in a season and the second giving him the record.
With the win, the Golden Bombers improved to 9-1 on the season.
"Today was a very physical game and we struggled to finish," said head coach Jim Mott. "We are going to have games like this. The important thing is that we found a way to win. Ward once again was huge for us and the defense played solid. Zach Terry may have played his best game ever for us today."
