UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Keaton Perry threw a complete-game shutout for the second straight day and the No. 3-seeded Notre Dame softball team earned a berth in the Section III, Class C-2 championship with a 4-0 win over No. 7 Mohawk Saturday at Wankel Field.
After striking out 16 batters in the quarterfinals on Friday, Perry struck out 11 Mohicans in the semifinals, allowing just four hits and two walks. Mohawk's Kelly Herlehy allowed three earned runs and struck out eight in a complete-game loss.
Notre Dame, now 15-5, will play top-seeded Bishop Ludden in the championship Wednesday at a site and time to be determined. Mohawk ends the season 12-10.
The Lady Jugglers did the majority of their offensive damage in the third inning with a three-run rally. Nicolina LaBella led off with a triple, then Amanda Visalli and Alyssa Tamburrino hit back-to-back RBI singles and Tierney Buckley hit a sacrifice fly.
