Rogers, Hamilton mow down Mills

NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - Freshman sensation Becca Rogers pitched a two-hit shutout Wednesday as Hamilton softball, the #1 ranked Class D team in the state, beat NY Mills 4-0.  With the win, the Lady Knights remained perfect on the season, improving to 11-0.

Rogers, who has been Hamilton's starting pitcher for every game, has won ten of her eleven games started.  She began Wednesday's game by fanning each of the first eight Marauders she faced, finishing with seventeen strikeouts.

She also took a perfect game bid into the sixth inning, broken up when she walked Alex Boucher with one out in the inning.

Rogers then still had a chance for her second no-hitter of the season, seventh of her career, until Corrin Flihan singled with one out in the seventh.  Jena Baiguini also singled in the inning before Rogers shut the door.

With the loss, Mills fell to 9-2 on the season.
