Dolgeville crushes M-E/H's dreams, wins D East

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The undefeated season of Morrisville-Eaton/Hamilton came to an end on their Senior Night Friday at Morrisville State College, as Dolgeville walloped the Vipers 41-14.  In the process, the Blue Devils clinched the Class D East league title.  Dolgeville tied with Herkimer and West Canada Valley for the crown in 2013.

Dolgeville scored the game's only points of the first quarter on a fantastic touchdown pass from Reid Johnson to Johann Doerrer, who wrestled the ball away from defensive back Brad Smalley to haul in the 36 yard score.

Up 6-0 after one, the Blue Devils were on the verge of scoring again on an option pass by Doerrer, but Smalley nabbed it in the end zone for an interception.  Dolgeville went right back at it though and on their next drive, Kasey Foster scored on a 15 yard TD run.

Just before halftime the Blue Devils would find the end zone again, on a 35 yard strike from Johnson to Doerrer as Dolgeville led 20-0.

Foster would score two more times in the second half, while Ben Nastovski got one as well.

M-E/H scored twice in the second half, on a run by reigning Athlete of the Week Nick Christman and then on a pass from Bryce Belanger to Smalley.

Both teams are now 5-1 on the season, but Dolgeville is 4-0 in D East while M-E/H is 3-1.
