MOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - The NY Mills Marauders earned their third straight victory Friday night, 26-16 over Mohawk. Fedor Avrusevich rushed 23 times for 224 yards and three touchdowns for Mills.
A game that began as a defensive struggle, with both teams turning it over, became more offensive at the end of the first quarter. Mohicans QB Carson Murphy ran for a 77 yard touchdown to break the scoreless tie. But Avrusevich answered with a 43 yard TD run of his own, tying the score at 7 after one.
Mohawk got on the board again in the second, when Avrusevich was tackled in the end zone for a safety. Murphy added a short score to put Mohawk up 16-7 at halftime.
The Marauder defense wouldn't let up another point, as Avrusevich scored on a one yard TD in the third, then Mills followed that with a five yard TD pass from Addison Wolanin to Cody Mariotti.
Avrusevich added an 18 yard TD in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Marauders.
Wolanin threw for 55 yards on the game, but also led the team with ten tackles. Colin Cunningham also had seven tackles, four for a loss, as well as a sack.
Artur Kirilko recoverd three fumbles, while Shawn Kula had six tackles and a fumble recovery.
