Mohawk upsets Ilion

By JASON POWLES

ILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Mohawk Lady Mohicans came in and stunned Ilion winning 55-41 on Thursday night.

After losing by double digits the firs time the two teams played, Mohawk came out and played agressive defense and hit shots when they needed to. The Lady Mohicans led by four at the half and had their lead cut to two points, but a 10-2 run gave them a little breathing room.

Ilion would cut a 10 point third quarter lead to four early in the fourth quarter, but tough Mohawk defense along with a rough shooting night was too much for Ilion to overcome.

Alexis Gilbert led all scorers with 18 points while Christy Traglia chipped in 17. Ilion's Sarah Alexander had 15 points in the loss.

Mohawk improves to 8-3 overall, 6-3 in the league. Ilion is now 10-2 overall and 8-1 in the league.
