Raiders use strong second half to top Indians

SAUQUOIT VALLEY, N.Y. (WKTV) - Canastota topped Sauquoit 31-10 in a Class C South showdown on Friday night.

Sauquoit got on the board in the second quarter with a two yard touchdown run by Mark Martin to take a 7-0 lead. But a touchdown run by Zack Zupan and a scoring strike from Conner Ross to John Halsey gave the Raiders a 12-7.

The Indians would cut the lead to 12-10 at the half on a 25 yard field goal by Rob Silvinski. However, in the second half Canastota turned it up a notch. A touchdown run by Zupan in the third followed by two more Raider scores in the fourth was too much for the Indians.

Sauquoit drops to 0-2 overall, 0-1 in the league. Canastota is now 1-1 over, 1-0 in the Class C-South.
