NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New Hartford Spartans topped Clinton 7-1 at Joe Corr Field on Monday. The win improves their record to 4-2 in the Tri Valley.

Clinton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on an RBI single by Cody Doyle. That would be their only run of the game. The Spartans then scored four runs in the bottom of the inning highlighted by a strange play.  With two outs and  2-2 count to Joe Carcone, the pitch got away from Clinton catcher Pat Foxton. Vinny Servadio tries to score and was thrown out at the plate. The whole Clinton team thought the inning was over but there were only two outs. Smartly, Joe Betar came around to score.

Chandler Evans led the way for the Spartans going two for three with a triple and two RBI's. Eric Verbickas pitched six solid innings striking out six. He improved to 3-1 while his team improved to 11-3 overall. Clinton drops to 2-6.
