VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Clinton Warriors held off a late surge to beat V-V-S 3-2 in a Tri-Valley league game on Thursday.

Clinton dominated ball possession for most of the game but V-V-S stayed in the game through the first half thanks to goalie Alex Rose. He finshed the day with 10 saves. The Warriors would break the scoreless halftime tie with Cory Gleasman's first of his two goals. Trevor Creedon added a goal to give Clinton a 3-0 lead.

V-V-S would come back. Chris Brunsheen scored on a direct kick to cut the lead to 3-1. Then with about seven minutes left in the second half,  Eric Booth tallied to make it 3-2.

Rob Larkin and the Clinton defense buckled down after that. Throughout the game, Clinton showed a lot of technical skill and swarmed to the ball while the Red Devils showed a lot of physical toughness which drew some yellow cards.

Clinton improves to 2-0 overall, 2-0 in the league. V-V-S is now 2-2 overall, 0-2 in the league.
