Clinton tops NH in historic boys soccer battle

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - In an exciting battle of undefeated boys soccer rivals Tuesday, Clinton got revenge for their only regular season loss of 2009, beating the Spartans 1-0 at Don Edick Field.  James Short scored the lone goal of the game, with twenty-eight minutes left, to lead Clinton to their 500th win in school history.

The Warriors (3-0) were knocking on the door many times in the game, but until that second half strike, Spartan keeper Matt Twitchell kept Clinton at bay.  The senior finished with eleven saves on the game.

New Hartford (2-1) was playing without senior Joe Affatigato, who was dismissed from the team, and it showed, as the Spartans weren't as aggressive or quick on offense as Clinton.

But the Spartans kept fighting all the way through the game, despite the constant Warrior offensive onslaught.

Clinton brought a host of fans to the game, with many students making their way out to the far bleachers to support their classmates with cheers and vuvuzela horns.
