Mustangs Outlast Redskins

WEST WINFIELD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Mt. Markham Mustangs topped Cooperstown 60-57 on Thursday night. As a result, Mt. Markham takes over sole possession of first place in the CSC Division II.

It was back and forth most of the game with the Mustangs leading by five at the half and five after three quarters. An 11-0 by Cooperstown gave them a five point advantage midway through the 4th quarter. The Mustangs countered with a 6-0 run of their own and held on to win. 

Josh Pugh, former NEWSChannel 2 Athlete of the Week, led Mt. Markham with 14 points. He had plenty of help too. Matt Casale scored 13 points and had four steals. Tyler Mattox had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Cooperstown was led by Pat Horrigan's 18 points. Ryan Davine chipped in 15. The Redskins drop to 11-2, 4-1 in the league. The Mustangs remain unbeaten at 12-0, 4-0 in the league.
