MOHAWK, N.Y. (WKTV) - Carson Murphy led Mohawk to an impressive victory Friday night, 34-21 over Class D East rival Mohawk. It's the first victory for the Mohicans since they returned to having their own team last year. In 2009 they had a combined team with Richfield Springs.
Murphy had a combined 221 yards, 102 on the ground, with three total touchdowns, two through the air and one more on the ground.
Mitch Werencazak had a pair of scores, including a 20 yarder through the air thrown by Murphy in the second quarter that allowed the Mohicans to take the lead.
Mohawk scored the last three touchdowns of the game in front of their home crowd to even their record at 1-1.
Cooperstown (0-2) will visit NY Mills next Saturday at 1 p.m., while Mohawk goes to Westmoreland at 2.
