ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Dolgeville Blue Devils are once again heading back to the Carrier Dome after coming back to beat Weedsport 28-20 on Friday night in the Class D semifinals at RFA Stadium.
It was a bit of revenge for Dolgeville, who lost to Weedsport in the first round of sectionals last season. The Blue Devils got off to an early 7-0 lead on a Ray Ruggerio touchdown run. Ruggerio was limited by a sore hamstring but still played defense for nearly the entire game.
Weedsport then scored 13 unanswered points on touchdown runs by Austin Ashby and Mathew Pelc to go up 13-7 at the half.
However, Jake Darling scored and Jared Fredericks added two second half touchdowns to lead the Blue Devils to victory.
That sets up a huge rematch between Westmoreland and Dolgeville in the Class D final at the Carrier Dome on November 4th at 5pm.
