High School Football camps open all over CNY

By WKTV Sports

CENTRAL NEW YORK - High school football camps have begun all over the viewing area. From Boonville to Oneonta, from Dolgeville to Oneida, NEWSChannel 2 has viewers covered. On Monday, NEWSChannel 2 stopped at Dolgeville, Herkimer and Whitesboro for day one of preseason camp.

In Herkimer, the Magicians are hoping to build off the title season of 2011. However, they have 13 slots to fill thanks to graduation. It could also be a bittersweet season. If Herkimer merges with Ilion and Mohawk, it will be the last for all three individual seasons.

In Dolgeville, the Blue Devils have 19 holes to fill. They are counting out strong sophomore and junior classes to get the job done.

In Whitesboro, the Warriors are a team with high expectations. After winning back to back Class A Section III titles in 2009 and 2010, the Warriors came up short of getting back to the Dome. That did not sit well and will certainly be a motivating factor this year.

NEWSChannel 2 will have much more on every team in the viewing area on August 30th at 7 p.m. on the Sports Express High School Football Preview Show with Jason Powles, Mike Levin and the coach Don Edick.

High school football season starts on August 31st.
