Hamilton baseball ready for state playoffs

By By BRIAN SANDLER

HAMILTON, N.Y. (WKTV) - Hamilton Central School already won one state championship this school year when the historically-powerful boys soccer team won the Class D crown.  This week, the relatively-unheralded baseball team will try to bring back another title as it makes its first state playoff appearance in 12 years.

The Emerald Knights play Section IV's South Kortright in the Class D regional finals (quarterfinals) Tuesday at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse at 4:30.  Hamilton has never advanced past the quarterfinal round, but there's every reason to believe this could be the year they do it as the team is 12-0 against Class D opponents and it's battle-tested thanks to playing up to Class B competition during the regular season.

As long as the weather holds and the game is played, NEWSChannel 2 will have highlights during the 10 and 11 p.m. newscasts and will post them here on WKTV.com.
