Herkimer Tops Lowville On A Late Field Goal

LOWVILLE, NY (WKTV) - The Herkimer Magicians keep finding ways to win. On Friday, Mike Fahy hit s 21 yard field goal with 54 seconds left as Herkimer beat Lowville 17-15 to advance to the Class C semifinals.

Herkimer took a 7-0 lead in the second quarter on a one yard run by John Bellinger. Bellinger rushed for 98 yards on 22 carries. The Red Raiders answered back on a Jeremy Gillen touchdown run. The game was knotted at seven at the half. Third quarter, Herkimer would retake the lead on a Mike Fahy one yard touchdown to make it 14-7. Lowville came right back with another Gillen touchdown but this time they went for two. Josh Jones found Gillen for the conversion pass and the Red Raiders took a 15-14 lead. However with 54 seconds left in regulation, Mike Fahy booted a 21 yard field goal to retake the lead for good.

Herkimer will face the winner for Westmoreland and Cato-Meridian who play on Saturday at 2pm.
