Holland Patent downs the defending Class C East champs

HERKIMER, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Holland Patent Golden Knights expected a tough game against Herkimer and that's exactly what they got. Once the rain settled though, the Magicians were the ones wondering what happened. Holland Patent downed Herkimer 9-3 on Friday night in lousy playing conditions.

The rain, as well as poor execution at times kept the games score low. The lone touchdown came late in the second quarter. Holland Patent's Alex Smith hit Matt Clawson over the middle for a 15 yard touchdown. The point after was no good. Dan Mower added a 24 yard field goal in the third quarter.

With the win the Golden Knight improve to 2-0 overall, 2-0 in the league. Herkimer is now 0-2, 0-1 in the Class C East.
