FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Herkimer Magicians got off to a 21-0 lead and had to hang on for a 24-16 win on Friday night.
Sean Crandall had a hand in all three first half touchdowns for Herkimer. Crandall rushed for 115 yards and two touchdowns while passing for 92 yards and a score. The key for the Magicians though was turnovers. They had 7 takeaways as a team, three by Wesley Bunce including the game ending interception.
The Maroon Knights made the game interesting though after trailing 21-0 to start the second half, they marched down the field and scored on a Gerald Post two yard touchdown run. The two point conversion made it 21-8. Later Mike Tomaino scored on a 20 yard run with a two point conversion they were as close as 21-16. But that is as close as they could get. After a Teddy Borek 37 yard field goal, Frankfort was unable to comeback.
