Adirondack Boys "Run" Away From Holland Patent

By By BRIAN SANDLER

HOLLAND PATENT, N.Y. (WKTV) - In a game full of back-and-forth runs, the Adirondack boys dropped a 19-3 hammer on host Holland Patent late in the second half on Friday to win 79-64.

Playing two 16-minute halves instead of the usual four quarters in advance of a probable rule change to that format, the first half featured five runs of at least a six-point difference.  Adirondack opened with a 12-3 run, then Holland Patent used an 8-0 run to cut it to 12-11.  Adirondack made a 9-0 run to go up 28-17, then a 9-0 Holland Patent run cut it to 31-28.  Adirondack closed the half with a 6-0 run for a 37-28 lead at the break.

The Wildcats increased their lead to 11 points in the second half at 54-43, then a 10-4 Holland Patent run made it a five-point game at 58-53 with 6:42 left.  But that's when Adirondack went on its big run to put the game away.

Nick Winters led Adirondack with 28 points and six rebounds while Scott Dunlap added 13 points.  Alex Smith was the lone Golden Knight in double-figure scoring with 22.

The victory improves the Wildcats to 5-2 overall; Holland Patent falls to 2-8.
