Herringshaw wins state title

ALBANY, N.Y. - Out of the 15 wrestlers from the Mohawk Valley competing in the High School State Wrestling Tournament and four who made it to the finals, only Alex Herringshaw of Holland Patent was victorious.  He won the Division II 145 pound title at the Times-Union Center Saturday night.

Derek Spann of Adirondack, who won a title at 99 pounds last year, fell by a 3-1 decision to Hunter Dusold of Locust Valley (Section VIII).

Laken Cook of CVA, another former champion, dropped a 7-1 decision in the 138 pound final to Tristan Rifanburg of Norwich (Section IV).

Lane Frost of V-V-S was defeated by a 9-4 decision in the 195 pound final by Nathaniel Rose of Eagle Academy (PSAL).
