Herkimer and Little Falls to clash again

By WKTV Sports

WKTV - Last week the Little Falls Mounties handed the Herkimer Magicians their only loss thus far this season. Herkimer was without several players due to suspension.

However, this time around, both teams will be at full strength as the Magicians will host the Mounties in the Class C playoffs on Friday at 7 p.m.

"We always call this a new season whenever we make the playoffs." says Alan Steele, Herkimer's head coach. "Day one we went back to some basics, some fundamentals and football's all about fundamentals and playing the percentages."

Last season, Herkimer ran the table to win their first Section III title since the 1980's. While this team is different than last year, one thing remains constant...the coaching staff.

"Being so close and the kids knowing each other and Coach Steele and his staff does a great job up there." says Little Falls head coach Bryan Shepardson. "I've coached for a few years now, we've had a lot of good battles and that's what I'll remember."

This is also likely the last time the two schools will meet on the grid iron if the planned valley school merger goes through.
