LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Little Falls boys basketball team pulled a huge upset of previously undefeated and state ranked Mohawk Tuesday night, winning 46-42. The Mohicans were ranked at ninth in the state's last Class C rankings, over a week ago. The loss to rival Little Falls drops Mohawk to 12-1 on the season.
Carson Murphy, the Mohicans junior star, was held to just 12 points, just three in the second half and none in the fourth quarter, as fouled out of the game on a late technical call. Kainan McCarthy led Mohawk, with 13 points.
Little Falls, meanwhile, got a huge boost from Jake Yallowitz, who led all scorers with 15 points.
Mohawk took a 19-16 lead at halftime thanks to a three-point play by Murphy, who hit an acrobatic hoop and then a free throw.
The two teams traded leads in the third, with the turning point coming at the end of the quarter, when Tyler Baumeister hit a three pointer to beat the end buzzer. That gave the Mounties a 34-30 lead with eight minutes to go.
