Clinton Shuts Out Mt. Markham

By By BRIAN SANDLER

CLINTON, NY (WKTV) -  Clinton football earned itself a bit of an upset on Friday, shutting out Mt. Markham on the road 10-0.

After the Warriors went ahead in the second quarter 3-0 on a short field goal, Mt. Markham threatened to go ahead late in the half, driving to the Clinton 9-yard line.  But on 4th down, Troy Barnett was intercepted by James Jarrett in the end zone, preserving Clinton's lead at the half.

The Warriors put the game away in the final minute of the 4th quarter when Jarrett threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Brendan Chrobak.

The victory improves Clinton to 1-1 in Class C South and overall; Mt. Markham, which won its first nine games last season but was decimated by graduation, falls to 0-1 (0-2).
