Mustangs rebound to beat Frankfort

By MIKE LEVIN

FRANKFORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - Playing in treacherous conditions, the Mount Markham boys soccer team came back from a halftime deficit to beat Frankfort-Schuyler, 4-2 Monday night.  Earlier in the day, cloudy conditions ended up producing a steady rain that lasted well into the second half of the game, and made for a slippery field.

Both teams were affected from the start of the game, but both also played through the rain and fought hard to try and win.

The Mustangs scored first, just six minutes into the game, on a shot by Travis Beach that went through.  The Maroon Knights then scored the next two goals, thanks to Demetrius "Mooch" Elthorp and Derek Sbiroli, to give Frankfort a 2-1 halftime lead.

Just over eight minutes into the second half, Mount Markham tied the score, on a shot by Jacob Joseph, set up by Taylor Davis.  A few minutes later, Davis hit one of his own, off a throw in, to put the Mustangs back on top to stay.  Tyler Plows scored the final goal of the game, with just under three and a half minutes left.

With the win, Mount Markham improved to 9-1-1 on the season, while Frankfort fell to 5-4-1.
