New Hartford Rebounds Against Watertown

by BRIAN SANDLER

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - Playing another home game away from home due to a turf field installation, New Hartford made itself at home at Rome's RFA Stadium, taking a quick lead and holding off Watertown 21-7.

The Spartans, coming off an emotional and draining overtime loss to rival Whitesboro, jumped on the Cyclones right away, with Joe Desens intercepting a pass on Watertown's opening possession and Joe Carcone making it count with a 3-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead.  New Hartford scored on its next possession on the final play of the first quarter with a 31-yard swing pass from Mike Doyle to John Boyle for a 14-0 lead, and the Spartans were on their way.

Carcone finished with 112 yards on the ground and the touchdown.

New Hartford is now 2-2 in Class A National play and overall; Watertown is 0-3 in league play and 0-4 overall.
