New Hartford falls to Carthage in Class B lacrosse semifinal

CENTRAL SQUARE, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New Hartford Spartans' bid for a Class B sectional title ended on Tuesday night when they lost their semifinal matchup with defending champion Carthage 15-10.

In the first half,  the Spartans went on a 4-0 run to take a 7-3 lead. However the Comets responded with a 4-0 run of their own to tie the game 7-7 at the half. Carthage would then open the third quarter with another 4-0 run to take an 11-7 lead. The Spartans cut the deficit to 11-9 late in the third quarter, but that is as close as they would get. Jake Silberlicht led New Hartford in scoring with three goals while Phil Chapman had two goals and one assist.

The Spartans finish 12-6 on the season. Carthage is now 17-3 and will face top seed Jamesville-DeWitt in Friday's championship.
