By SPENCER DAVIDSON

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New Hartford Spartans opened up their season at Don Edick Field with a loss to Carthage, Friday.

The Spartans came out flying early with an apparent touchdown pass from Adam Zogby to Steve Tomaino, but the play was called back on a flag.

From there it was all Carthage, and all Bailey Wilkinson, as the Comet QB rushed for 3 Touchdowns to propel Carthage over New Hartford 20-7 in the Class A National opener.

Tomaino rushed four times for 47 yards, and caught 3 passes for 56, while Zogby threw 12-19 for 156 yards, and 2 interceptions in the loss.

With the loss, New Hartford has now dropped 17 consecutive games dating back to the 2010 season.

They will look to turn their fortunes around when they host Oswego, next Friday, September 13.
