H.S. Football: Jones resigns as New Hartford head football coach
NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. - New Hartford head football coach Bob Jones resigned this week, making it official Wednesday night. Jones took over the job from the legendary Don Edick in 1996 and has been involved with the team for 30 years.
Jones spoke with WKTV Friday night as said the biggest factor in his decision was his health, but he also says he had philosophical differences with a few members of the school's administration. "I think the general administration and the school board is great. I definitely want to stay involved with the program," Jones says.
New Hartford went 0-8 last season, just two years removed from a 9-1 2009, when they won a league title before falling to Whitesboro in the Class A Section III title game at the Carrier Dome.
