NEWPORT, N.Y. (WKTV) - Despite having only 20 players on its roster this season, Notre Dame clinched an improbable Class D East championship on Saturday with a 40-14 win at West Canada Valley.

The Jugglers finish the regular season 4-0 in league play and 5-1 overall with their only loss being to state-ranked No. 1 Westmoreland in Week 1.  While Notre Dame will have a top seed in the Section III, Class D playoffs, West Canada Valley (1-3, 2-4)will also be in sectionals for the first time since the late 1990s thanks to hanging onto the fourth and final berth in the five-team league.

The playoff brackets will be released Sunday.
