Yankees' Long teaches aspiring hitters

By By MIKE LEVIN

SCHUYLER, N.Y. (WKTV) - For the second time in a matter of months, Notre Dame High sponsored an event featuring a member of the World Series Champion New York Yankees.  Hitting Coach Kevin Long held two clinics on Saturday at the Field of Dreams Complex, working with young baseball players on the mechanics of their swings.

Long says he loves being able to pass on his knowledge to aspiring baseball players, and that he tries to particiapte in as many of these types of events as possible.

Long follows Brett Gardner, who appeared at Notre Dame High School in November for a memoribilia show.  In fact, organizers say it was Gardner who put them in touch with Long.

"If I was these kids age and I had the N.Y. Yankees hitting coach come in and do something like this it would mean the world to me, so I hope it means a lot to these kids and hopefully I can impact their lives and their swings by just maybe two or three hours today with them."
