NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - After weighing all his options, NY Mills senior Fred Russ has chosen to play college football at the University of Buffalo in the fall. He has a full scholarship and will have the chance to play right away.
Fred was an All State first team selection in 2010 as a wide receiver and he was a menace on the defensive side of the ball as well. He made the All Mohawk Valley team and was an unanimous choice for the NEWSChannel 2 High School Football All Star Team.
It was a tough decision for Fred, who had to choose between going to college and playing basketball or football. After leading the Marauders to their first Class D State title since 1982, Russ was named the Class D Player of the year in both Section III and statewide. He was also a NEWSChannel 2 Boys Basketball All Star and Mohawk Valley player of the year.
