Oneida holds off Chittenango


CHITTENANGO, N.Y. (WKTV) - Jeremy Rodriguez threw two touchdown passes in the first half and Oneida made them stand to beat Chittenango 16-13 on a rain-soaked Friday night.

Trailing 7-0 in the second quarter, Rodriguez threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Shawn Ano, and a two-point conversion put the Indians ahead 8-7.  After the defense forced a Chittenango three-and-out, Oneida drove 95 yards for another touchdown, capped by a 58-yard pass to Eric Riley for a 16-7 lead at halftime.

Chittenango got within three in the third on a Brendan Galek touchdown catch, but the Bears could get no closer.

Oneida is now 2-1 in Class B East and 4-1 overall while Chittenango falls to 1-1 (2-3).
