Warriors jump out in 4th to beat Indians
MARCY, N.Y. (WKTV) - For nearly four quarters the Whitesboro boys basketball team couldn't shake their TVL rivals from Oneida. But in the fourth quarter of their game Friday night the Warriors outscored the Indians by 11 and won 57-47 in a battle of Tri-Valley division leaders. Whitesboro, the East leader, improved to 10-2 in the league, 11-5 overall. Oneida, the West leader, falls to 9-3 in the league, 10-6 overall.
The Warriors jumped out early, but Oneida came back to make it a one point game, 11-10 at the end of the first half. Each team then scored 11 points in the second, giving Whitesboro a 22-21 lead at halftime. Oneida then took a one point lead at the end of the third, 36-35. But the Warriors finished strong, led by Mike Ryan's 18 poijnts, Ryan Watson's 17 and Mike Sullivan's 14. Matt Tamburo led Oneida with 17.
