CICERO, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Oneida softball team did it again, winning their second straight Section III Class A title, with a 5-1 win over Jamesville-Dewitt Monday night at the Gillette Road Softball Complex. The Indians took their first lead in the top of the third inning, on an RBI bunt by Jenn Rougeux that scored Jamie Delgenio.
After the Red Rams tied it in the fourth inning, Oneida took the lead to stay in the fifth, scoring two runs, the first on an RBI single by Jenna Didio which scored Rougeux and the second on a bunt by Erika Williams, which scored Didio.
The Indians added two more runs in the top of the seventh, as Rougeux scored on a passed ball and Didio scored on a bunt single by Maria Rocco.
Rocco pitched a complete game and gave up just the one run, while striking out five.
Oneida advances to the regionals Tuesday at the Adirondack Sports Complex in Queensbury, where they will face South Glens Falls, of Section II.
