ONEIDA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Oneida improved to 2-1 on the season with a convincing 49-14 win Friday at home over Class B East rival South Jefferson. The Indians won their second straight game at home with the win.
Oneida dominated most of the game, starting with a blocked punt by Keith Johnson early in the first quarter. Chris Chesebro ran in a five yard touchdown two plays later to give the Indians a 7-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Matt Mosack, the Oneida QB who also plays DB, picked off a pass and seemingly returned it for a touchdown. But it was called back to the 24 yard line on a block in the back. Mosack nearly ran the next play in for a score, but was stopped five yards short.
So Chesebro was called upon again and scored his second five yard TD of the game. Oneida took the 14-0 lead to halftime.
In the third quarter, Mosack unleashed a deadly pass that connected with Shawn Ano for a 60 yard completion, but not a touchdown. Just a few plays later, however, the Indians found the end zone again, as Chesebro scored for the third time.
After a South Jefferson touchdown, Mosack connected on his first TD of the game late in the third quarter. He found Eric Riley for a 27 yard score to make it a 28-6 game at the end of the quarter.
Oneida will travel to Mount Markham next Friday, in search of their first road win of 2010.
