NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Vinny Servadio and the New Hartford boys basketball team powered through a tough challenge from Oneida Friday night, beating their Tri-Valley rivals 51-48. Servadio had 19 points to lead all scorers and hit a pair of key three pointers in the fourth quarter that kept the Spartans in the game.
With New Hartford leading 28-23 at halftime, the Indians went on a run to get back in the game, then took a seven point lead in the fourth quarter. But Servadio's first three cut the lead to four, then he tied the score with his second big three.
The Tri-Valley East leading Spartans (3-0) clinched the game at the free throw line. Oneida (2-1), a league rival from the West division, dropped its first game of the season.
