VERONA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The V-V-S football team finished the regular season on a strong note, knocking off Oneida 33-6 Saturday. Collin Way had three touchdown runs to lead the Red Devils to victory.
Way had the only score of the first quarter, as V-V-S took a 7-0 lead into the second. The Indians matched that score with one of their own, on a run by Patrick Tayntor. But their extra point missed as the Red Devils maintained their lead.
Way then scored again, on a 28 yard run, giving V-V-S a 13-6 lead at the half and never looked back. Way finished with 130 yards on 22 carries.
Dylan Guider added 100 yards on 17 carries and a score. QB Tyler Mautner completed 12 of 14 passes for 129 yards and also had a touchdown on the ground. Casey Henderson caught four passes for 64 yards.
With the win, the Red Devils improved to 4-3 on the season, 3-2 in Class B East, while Oneida fell to 4-3, 2-3 in the league.
