HAMILTON, NY (WKTV) - The No. 4-seeded Hamilton girls soccer team eliminated No. 13 Oriskany from the Section III, Class D playoffs for the second straight year on Wednesday night, coming back and holding on for a 2-1 first-round win.

Tied 1-1 at halftime, Hamilton went ahead late in the second half when Katie Weeks got a midfield pass past the defense to Tiffany Jones-Maxwell, who won a one-on-one with goalie Alyssa Balfe.  Oriskany's last best chance to tie came with two minutes left when a handball call on Hamilton gave the Lady Redskins a direct kick from just outside the box, but Brittany Decker's shot went over the crossbar.

Hamilton, now 14-2-3, will host No. 5 seed Old Forge, which shut out No. 12 Faith Heritage 4-0, in the quarterfinals Friday at a time to be determined.  Oriskany ends the season 8-10-1.

Despite the difference in regular season records, Oriskany matched Hamilton's physical play from the start.  The Lady Redskins went ahead early in the first half when Taylor Robertello fed Decker off a corner kick for a beautiful hooking shot into the far low corner, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

But Hamilton responded just five minutes later thanks to a handball-in-the-box call on Oriskany.  That gave the Lady Emerald Knights a penalty kick, and while Balfe made the initial save on Emily Truett's shot, Truett won the race to the rebound and scored to tie the game.

Balfe finished with 12 saves while Hamilton's Kylie Martin recorded five.  Hamilton out-shot Oriskany 15-5 and had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Hamilton beat Oriskany 3-0 in the quarterfinals last season.
