Boys Basketball: Marauders to face Oriskany in Wadas final
NEW YORK MILLS, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New York Mills boys basketball team beat Hamilton 84-37 Thursday in the first round of the 8th Annual Ed Wadas Classic at Beekman Gym. The defending Class D state champion Marauders will face Oriskany in the championship game Friday night.
It will be the second time in three days the two schools will face off on the court, as the Mills girls team beat Oriskany in the championship of the Lady Redskins tournament Wednesday.
On Thursday, the Mills boys jumped out to a 29-5 lead by the end of the first quarter, with big Matt Welch hitting the pine before the end of those first eight minutes. He finished with 11 points.
Nick Etienne had the team high with 14, tying Hamilton's Zach Dow for the game high. The Marauders led 46-16 at halftime.
In the first game of the day, Oriskany beat Mt Markham 60-54, getting 20 points from Steve McCorduck in the win. Nate Hudson had the Mustang high, with 14 points.
