ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The New York Mills girls basketball team defeated the hosts at Oriskany's Holiday Tournament, 38-32 Wednesday night in a matchup of two top ten state ranked teams in Class D. Mills was ranked sixth in the first poll this season released Monday, Oriskany was ninth.
Mohawk took third as they beat Frankfort-Shuyler 52-27 in the consolation game.
The championship game was a low scoring affair from the start, as the only field goal in the first quarter came from Oriskany's Christina Graziadei, who had a game high 14 points. Dominique Talerico led the way for Mills, with 11 points.
The two CSC Division IV rivals will square off again Tuesday at Mills.
In the first game, Frankfort jumped out to as much as a nine point lead, paced by a 19 point performance by Haleigh Welch. But Mohawk went on a 34-7 run the rest of the way.
Lexy Johnson had 14 points and five steals, while Nicole Landry added eight points, five rebounds and four steals.
