Remsen express keeps rolling through Oriskany

By MIKE LEVIN

ORISKANY, N.Y. (WKTV) - The two time state semifinalist Remsen girls soccer team continued their 2012 shutout streak, winning 9-0 at Oriskany Tuesday.  Erin O'Connor and Jolene Marfone each contributed hat tricks, while Ashley O'Connor added a pair of goals for the Lady Rams.

The Lady Redskins held their own with Remsen for nearly fifteen minutes, peppering Megan Will with shots, but never got one through.  Will finished with 13 saves and her fourth straight shutout.  Breanna Bouska had 16 saves for Oriskany (2-1-1).

Erin, who had 40 goals a year ago, already has 13 on the season, with the first of her three goals in this game breaking the scoreless tie.  Twin sister Ashley then was credited for a goal that was intended for eighth grader Elisha Hamilton, but ended up deflecting off an Oriskany defender.

Just seconds later, Ashley scored again, this time on a shot that went over the keeper's head and in.  Marfone scored two of her three goals in the waning moments of the first half to give the Lady Rams a 5-0 lead at halftime.

Lizzy Swasey, along with Marfone and Erin twice, all scored in the second half for Remsen (4-0), who is off until Monday, when they hosst Notre Dame.
