Poland falls short in state championship

CORTLAND, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Poland girls soccer team fell one win short of repeating as Class D state champions, as they were defeated 4-2 by Jasper-Troupsburg in the championship Sunday from the White Field at Cortland State.

The Wildcats scored two goals in the first two minutes of the game and were able to hold, despite multiple rallies by Poland.

Two seniors came up big for the Lady Tornadoes in two goal holes, with Tara Seigle putting her team on the board about halfway through the first, then Paige Sullivan adding another about ten minutes into the second, which cut J-T's lead from 3-1 to 3-2.

Poland finishes another fantastic season at 19-3 and despite losing Seigle, Sullivan and four other seniors, still have a lot of key players coming back next fall.
