Proctor Boys Can't Keep Up With CBA In Semis

By By BRIAN SANDLER

CHITTENANGO, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Proctor boys basketball team missed too many shots on Friday, and as a result, the Raiders missed a chance to go to their fourth straight sectional championship game with a 55-44 loss to CBA in the Section III, Class AA semifinals at Chittenango.

After a back-and-forth start to the game, CBA, the No. 2 seed and ranked No. 20 in the state in Class AA, closed the first quarter with a 12-2 run to take an 18-9 lead.  The Brothers' offense slacked in the second quarter, managing only 10 points, but Proctor, the No. 6 seed, only scored eight and trailed 28-17 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Raiders looked to get a break when CBA's big man and leading player Michael Goodman was called for his third foul with 5:11 remaining and sat on the bench for the rest of the quarter.  But Proctor only made up one point in that time, outscoring the Brothers 6-5, and a 19-point outburst in the fourth quarter proved futile as CBA scored 17 points to maintain control.

The Brothers, now 18-4, will face top seed and defending champion Henninger in the championship next Saturday at Manley Field House.  Proctor ends the season 14-9.

Despite the foul trouble, Goodman notched a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.  Walkery Mills led Proctor with 15 points.
