Proctor's Kiesel done for the season

By by JASON POWLES

UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - Proctor junior basketball star Brianna Kiesel will miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken wrist over the weekend.

The lady Raiders were facing Albany high school on Saturday night when in the third quarter, Brianna was fouled while going up for a layup. She came down and slapped her wrist on the court. She continued to play after icing it but in the fourth quarter, coach Vinny Perrotta noticed her discomfort and pulled her from the game.

She returned to Utica following the game and after x-rays were taken, it was determined she had broken the scaphoid bone in her wrist. It's the slowest healing bone in the hand. She will miss the remainder of the season and may require surgery.

Kiesel has scored 1,244 point in her career, just one point shy of the school record held by Clara Carter. She has already been recruited by several Division I colleges. Brianna is a former NEWSChannel 2 All Star and Athlete of the Week.

The lady Raiders (2-2), will face Liverpool Tuesday night.
