ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - In the latest chapter of the oldest rivalry in New York State, RFA came back from a 26-0 deficit to force overtime, where the Black Knights went on to win 47-46. In the 121st year in the last 123 that the two rivals have faced off on the football field, Brad Dougherty scored on a TD run in the extra period and L.J. Redpath's extra point ended up being the difference. Proctor would get a touchdown in overtime as well, on a 6 yard TD pass from Patrick Brady to Landon Lang, but their two point conversion attempt to win failed.
Angus Evans threw for 340 yards and four touchdown passes, while also rushing for a fifth. Three of the four TD passes came in the second half, though the longest, a 66 yarder to Josh Reed, came in the second and got the Black Knights on the board after being down 26-0.
Dougherty rushed for 102 yards on 12 attempts, while Lindell Reed had a huge 28 yard interception return touchdown with just over a minute to go to put RFA up 40-32.
But the Raiders came back, as Brady found J'Von Evans for a 16 yard touchdown. Evans finished with 166 yards and three scores for Proctor, while also catching a pair of TD receptions.
RFA, who now leads the series 61-34-5, improved to 2-1 on the season, while Proctor falls to 0-3.
