Proctor Girls Come Back To Beat RFA

By By BRIAN SANDLER

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - The Proctor girls basketball team used a 12-0 run to get back in the game and another to win it on Friday, knocking off Rome Free Academy 53-49 in the opening round of RFA's holiday tournament.

RFA jumped out to a 13-3 lead after the first quarter, but Proctor opened the second with a 12-0 run to take a two-point lead.  RFA re-took the lead 24-23 at the half and led 36-35 going into the fourth, but the Lady Raiders again opened with a 12-0 run to take command.

The Lady Black Knights cut the deficit to two with two minutes left but could not complete the comeback.

Brianna Kiesel led Proctor with 22 points while Lindsey Brognano led RFA with 19.

Proctor, now 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the Central New York Counties League (the matchup counted as a league game this year as the teams did not want to play each other three times overall), will play Mt. St. Mary, a 51-34 winner over Oneida in the other first-round game, in the championship Saturday at noon.  RFA, 4-4 (1-2), faces Oneida in the consolation at 10:30 a.m.
