ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) - A wild night at Kennedy Arena ended up in a tie as RFA and Clinton finished 2-2 after overtime.

After a late-third period fight resulted in three ejections and an even later game-tying goal by RFA, the Black Knights' Dustin Frankey was slashed on a breakaway toward the goal with 22 seconds left. RFA screamed for a penalty shot, which seemed to be warranted, but the referees refused, and neither team would score again.

The tie and subsequent point keeps RFA in third place in Section III, Division II East at 6-3-2 (10-9-2 overall) and Clinton clinging to its playoffs hopes in fifth place at 4-5-1 (6-10-3 overall). With the top four teams earning playoff berths, RFA is ahead of fourth-place Whitesboro by four points and Clinton trails that spot by one. Each team has three games remaining, one of which for Clinton is against Whitesboro.

The fight came with 4:45 left in the third period and Clinton leading 2-1. RFA's T.J. Reilley and Trevor Brockway and Clinton's Cory Harris got ejected from the game with four-minute major penalties, meaning they will have to sit out their next game.

With 2:12 left and the teams playing four-on-four due to the penalties, Kyle Williams tied the game off a behind-the-net assist from Garrett Reilley. It put the momentum on RFA's side, but the no-call on the penalty shot tempered it.

The Black Knights started overtime with 1:08 of power play left but could not score, and a final power play with three seconds left failed, as well.
